Founded in 1953, Tung Ho Textile has positioned itself in the market as “an expert of green and functional short fibers”, and has been continuously devoted to excelling in its spinning craftsmanship and developing functional short fiber yarns so as to satisfy the market’s needs for diverse and customized products. Motivated by the rapidly changing market demands, Tung Ho Textile has been tirelessly developing innovative yarn types, where specialty yarn types have accumulated to more than 2,500 different types. Daily intricate spinning changing operations and criteria settings all create an enormous burden on the overall production process and production lines. Prompted by the 5G era, it has become even more crucial for enterprises to build an agile production system, take full advantage of Big Data, and therefore respond to market changes with more flexibility and timeliness. Tung Ho Textile, which has been established for nearly 7 decades, has stayed firmly grounded to its corporate cultures and built such principles around ceaseless learning and knowledge sharing, and we have introduced Vitals ESP – Enterprise Social Platform, an Organization Knowledge Management Platform from Galaxy Software Services Corporation (GSS). Empowered by digitalization, we are able to significantly improve efficiency in regards to quality management, production process, equipment security, and audit management.

In response to the market’s small-quantity yet diverse customized needs, R&D and on-site personnel have devoted a great amount of time and efforts, gone through numerous troubleshooting sessions and spinning criteria adjustments for the creation of functional short fiber yarns that are unique to the market. In addition, since production-related data and records were all processed on paper in the early days, it made product development an extremely time-consuming and taxing process. After listening to frontline workers’ feedback, Chairman Tsai Sui-Ying and General Manager Chang Chia-Heng made the determination, at the same time as the Company’s expansion of special functional production lines in 2020, to systematically organize Tung Ho Textile from its first stage of R&D to all kinds of data and reports at the later stage of sales. Simultaneously, Tung Ho has also introduced Vitals ESP – Enterprise Social Platform, an Organization Knowledge Management Platform, to create a more precise and efficient business model.

Not only are the production history of all different batch numbers and yarn count types digitalized and integrated, spinning changing documents, quality inspection data, Input Process Quality Control (IPQC ), handling of customer complaints, reports of after-sale services, and other data are all stored on the platform. It would be beneficial for the quality assurance department to rapidly discover the causes of any abnormality and propose appropriate improvement measures. General Manager Chang noted that, “From Tung Ho’s production batch number, one would be able to trace back to its production request document, as well as the yarn’s raw material, source, physical characteristic, production line, and production criteria, which spans from the time of on-site manufacturing to warehousing. General conditions of the production quality during carding, drawing, roving, and spinning  would all be under control. Also, cause and effect analyses and continuous improvements would also be made, so that the efficiency of new product developments would be enhanced.”

After going through three months of introduction and renovation, everyone at Tung Ho Textile has been actively working on transforming our culture. We have been unitedly inspecting in detail each and every step of our procedures. With the assistance of Vitals ESP, we have incorporated the production history of our 2,500 types of functional yarns and connected all related documents. General Manager Chang stated that, “Vitals ESP has not only integrated the production history of Tung Ho Textile’s functional yarns, it has also further encouraged cross-department collaborative operations and shared learning. On the other hand, Vitals ESP has also brought unexpected assistance towards mobile management – sales and after-sales service personnel are able to check on production history at the client end, without geographical limitation, so that they could proceed with real-time reviews and adjustments. Overall, the efficiency of new product development and customer satisfaction have all drastically improved.”

The management team has led everyone at Tung Ho Textile to establish the capability and literacy to “analyze issues and resolve issues”. Chairman Tsai Sui-Ying also aspires to continuously introduce new models of manufacturing facilities and raw materials and to wisely apply the knowledge management system. Through Big Data analyses, Tung Ho will be able to assist clients to develop yarns of various qualities and differentiatio n in a short amount of time.
